Heat stroke in pets can be a very serious issue during the summer months. This easy to download info-graphic is great as a reference for remembering how to keep your fur babies safe while its hot!
Certain breeds of dogs can become overheated from stress or excitement, even if it doesn't seem like too hot of a day. Dogs with thick fur or short snouts are especially susceptible to heat stroke.
Remember the signs of heat stroke in pets:
hot skin
vomiting or excessive drooling
rapid breathing or heavy panting
loss of coordination
collapse or unconsciousness
If your dog shows some or all of these signs, make sure to:
Move the pet indoors or to a shaded area
Cool your pets body with cool (not cold) water, washcloths or ice packs
ONLY after they have begun to cool down, should you offer water to drink
Get to a vet immediately
